Ramone West Selected as Administrative Intern at Independence Elementary

The Francis Howell School District has selected Ramone West to serve as the administrative intern at Independence Elementary School, effective July 1, 2020. West is currently an assistant principal at the Carondelet Leadership Academy, a charter school in St. Louis.

West looks forward to contributing to the culture of rigorous academic excellence and student empowerment at Independence. "I'm super excited to be part of the Independence family," he said. "I look forward to learning about and connecting with faculty, staff, families, and the community at large."

A dedicated academic professional committed to fostering child development, West has been an assistant principal at CLA since 2017. While there, he created the school's academic retention plan and also implemented a PBIS program. From 2006 – 2017, he worked as a classroom teacher at Venice Elementary in Venice, IL, where he was a member of the District leadership team that developed the school improvement plan.

West received a bachelor's degree in elementary education, and a master's in English teaching of writing from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. He also received an education specialist degree in educational administration from SIU-E as well.
